Vienna, VA, January 21, 2003--The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) are pleased to announce the 2003 North American Monitoring Technology Symposium and Exhibition (NAMTSE). For the first time in the alarm industry history, this will be a joint venture between CSAA and NBFAA. The Symposium and Exhibition will be held on May 15-19, 2003 at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The 2003 NAMTSE will encompass wide-ranging educational programs for monitoring companies, installing companies, systems integrators and others. Joining CSAA and NBFAA as endorsers/supporters of the program are Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Security Sales & Integration magazine, Security Systems News, SDM, the Security Network of America (SNA), the Alarm Association of Florida (AAF), the Graybeards, the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC), and others. The program will begin on Wednesday with the AICC meeting. On Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16, the program will include technical and product presentations by the security industry's manufacturing companies of their newest and most popular products. This will be followed on Saturday and Sunday by course instruction divided into four tracks:
The Exhibition will include approximately 80 booths dedicated to the monitoring and installation of burglar and fire alarm systems, as well as CCTV, access control and system integration. In addition, there will be other courses on fire seminars, obtaining and maintaining UL Listings, business planning, etc. The Fire Seminar, hosted by a local alarm company, will help open communications between alarm companies and local fire authorities; the Successful Business Planning Symposium hosted by "The Graybeards" will help companies effectively develop and use a solid business plan. NBFAA will host a Fire Alarm Installation Methods (FAIM) training class on Friday and Saturday, May 16-17. All in all, there will be approximately 120 hours of instruction and courses for all levels and interests. "This meeting represents the culmination of the finest educational program we have ever produced. It encompasses many disciplines in the central station monitoring and the alarm installation industries such as operations management, financial management, customer service and technology and it is highly focused. We are also very proud of our relationship with NBFAA in this joint effort which recognizes the need we both have for such educational opportunities," said Steve Doyle, CSAA Executive Vice President. "The 2003 NAMTSE Meeting is the first in our industry to present such a strong educational program for monitoring and installing companies. It also presents an opportunity for our busy members and central station owners and key employees to 'bundle" many board and committee meetings from four or five different organizations into one meeting, saving considerable travel and expense. The CSAA and NBFAA Executive Committees have really come to an agreement in our need for this educational program and we sincerely appreciate their efforts and support as our partners in this program," added Mel Mahler, President of CSAA." According to Merlin Guilbeau, NBFAA Executive Director, "our motivation for conducting a joint meeting is more than convenience and economy of scale. CSAA and NBFAA have complementary missions and members' needs-therefore, combining meetings to create an enhanced program that appeals to a wider audience-just makes sense. The extensive educational offering being presented by NAMTSE is a milestone for our industry. A company owner can provide comprehensive professional development for employees in the technical, management, sales, central station and customer service arenas in a single venue!" Registration materials and the preliminary program will be available later this week on the CSAA website at www.namtse.com and on the NBFAA website at www.alarm.org.
