Cambridge Protection to buy SecurityLink

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) has just received word through the Security Industry Association (SIA) E-Mail News Service that GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC, a leading private equity in-vestment firm, will acquire SecurityLink through its affiliate Cambridge Protection Industries, LLC, subject to review by the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice. The Boards of Directors of the two companies have approved the transaction.

As reported in a previous Signals, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and SBC Communications, Inc. had entered into a Consent Decree, where SBC agreed to use its best efforts to divest itself of its affiliate, SecurityLink, prior to February 9, 2001, in such a way that SBC would not retain control of SecurityLink nor of the buyer. In the Consent Decree, SBC agreed to make a voluntary contribution to the U.S. Treasury of $1,000,000 on February 10, 2001 if it was not successful in divesting itself of SecurityLink by February 9, 2001.
