The Central Station Alarm Association's False Alarm Analysis Program (FAAP) software was singled out for a special award by the publishers of Association Trends, a national weekly newspaper for association executives and suppliers. The award ceremony will be held on January 20, 2000 at the Capitol Hilton, in Washington, D.C. The 1999 Trends Publications contest received nearly 400 entries in 18 categories. While the software did not specifically fall into any one category, the jury decided to single it out for a special notice award. According to Jill Cornish, President and Publisher of Association Trends, the scope of the program and of the effort really impressed them. "This is quite an accolade from our peer organizations in the non-profit community. To be singled out by Association Trends, perhaps the premier trade press publication in the association industry, means that CSAA broke new ground and accomplished something quite significant and unique with its development of FAAP," expressed Steve Doyle, CSAA Executive Vice President. FAAP: a Great PR Tool CSAA member companies developed FAAP by virtue of their CSAA membership. The program is a contribution to the law enforcement community to assist them in managing the administration of false alarm ordinances and the false alarm fines and permits associated with the ordinances. By gifting FAAP to a police or sheriff jurisdiction, and possibly assisting with initial setup, they are demonstrating their willingness to assist law enforcement and thereby enhance the reputation and professionalism of their respective alarm company in the eyes of the law enforcement community. In fact, some CSAA Regular Members are planning to conduct seminars for their local law enforcement officers to demonstrate and distribute the software. The seminars will also explain to law enforcement's MIS personnel how to install the software. These seminars are a great opportunity to grow closer to the AHJs. FAAP is a vehicle to achieve a much closer working relationship with the department within the police agency responsible for the administration of the alarm ordinance, generally the crime prevention unit, and gain very positive public relations. CSAA is currently duplicating the latest CD-ROM version of the software (v. 2.2.0) and will be ready to ship it before the end of the year to members who have ordered copies. If you have not placed your order yet, fax the enclosed form to CSAA at (703) 242-4675. To lean more about the features of FAAP, visit the FAAP section at www.csaaul.org/faap.htm. q
