CSAA President Fiore Appointed to FEMA Panel

07/29/99

Vienna, VA, July 27, 1999 — Louis T. Fiore, President of the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), has been asked by President Bill Clinton and James L. Witt, Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to serve on a panel that will play an essential role in the initiation of a national effort to reduce U.S. fires.

The panel will meet in Washington, DC starting this September and will revisit the America Burning report, recognized as the single, most significant publication on the management of fire hazards in the U.S.

It will use the results of a Spring 1998 review of the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) to recommend an approach to an updated and renewed vision for the fire service community.

The central product of the panel, led by George K. Bernstein, Esq., will be the report, America Burning: Recommissioned and the creation of a framework for the evolving role of the fire safety and sustainability of today’s American communities.

"I am honored to have been chosen to participate in this important program on behalf of the American people," stated Lou Fiore upon his appointment.
