Yesterday afternoon, the Los Angeles City Council voted 12-1 to assert jurisdiction over Los Angeles Police Commission's adoption on January 7, 2003 of a verified response policy. On January 8, LA City Councilwomen Janice Hahn and Wendy Greuel filed the petition to veto this ordinance.

After asserting jurisdiction, the city council directed that the policy be reviewed jointly by neighborhood councils, education committee and the public safety committee.
