2006 CSAA Electronic Security Forum and Expo in Savannah
 |
CSAA is pleased to announce the dates and location for the 2006 CSAA Electronic Security Forum and Expo (formerly the North American Security Symposium & Exposition--NASS EX). The meeting will return to a very popular and much favored venue from several years ago, Savannah, Georgia. It will take place May 17-21, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency, Savannah, Georgia. CSAA was last in Savannah in 2001 when we launched the precursor of this meeting, then called the North American Monitoring Technology Symposium & Exhibition (NAMTSE).
The city received such wide acclaim as a great destination that we will be repeating it again next year. This time however, we will be at the Hyatt Regency, located right at the foot of Whitaker Street, within walking distance to the historical heart of Savannah and right over top of River Street. As some of you know, CSAA has gone through a number of variations on the name for this meeting--from NAMTSE to NASS EX and now to the CSAA Electronic Security Forum and Exposition. We realize that this transition has been confusing for some and hope that all will understand that we have been searching for the right name to reflect the evolving educational and networking nature of the meeting. When you see the logo in the upper right hand corner of the page on future correspondence, please note that this is this CSAA meeting.
Additionally, we have revised the meeting pattern to better reflect the travel needs of our member companies and our valued Associate Members and allow more time for people to get home on Sunday afternoon. The tentative schedule of events for planning purposes is as follows:

Will Your Alarms Be Monitored in India or Pakistan?
Rumor has it that a new alarm monitoring central station facility will open shortly in Lahore, Pakistan, following another that opened recently in Bombay, India. There has been some speculation that they may also seek UL Listing or FM Approval.
This unnamed company is seeking to cut monitoring center operator costs through this movement offshore, but may retain an office in Florida. According to unnamed and confidential sources, this company may have been set up with the help and support of a major US company. We also understand that they may be approaching major US monitoring companies to see if they wish to take part in the project.
SIGNALS wonders what customers will think about their personal and financial information along with ID codes, security system configurations, and call lists being maintained and managed at such locations. Some are concerned that if such sensitive data is located in foreign locations and accessed daily by large staffs of non-US citizens, operating under foreign legal structures and business practices, it could be vulnerable to theft and misuse by terrorists or international criminals.
