Partners in Security Education: CSAA and CANASA
The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Canadian Security Association (CANASA) are pleased to announce their new agreement whereby CANASA will officially sponsor and promote the CSAA Central Station Operator Online Training Course Level I and the Advanced Operator Online Course to the Canadian security industry. The program(s) are designed to train new as well as experienced central station operators, on how central station monitoring facilities operate, as well as the principles behind their roles and that of the central station communications with the AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction). Additionally, it covers communications with the PSAPs (Public Safety Access Points), false alarm reduction, equipment, standards and other types of central station operations.
According to Steve Doyle, CSAA Executive Vice President, “The CSAA Level I Course has now surpassed the 2,000 operators trained mark with over 60 central stations now receiving the ‘Five Diamond Certification’ distinction as achieving and maintaining 100% of their operators trained. Additionally, a much more in-depth course, named the Central Station Operator Training Course Level II, will shortly be on-line and this will also be available to all Canadian companies. Also, we are delighted that this agreement recognizes these two on-line courses, Level I & II, as the leading education programs for the professional monitoring industry”.
CANASA’s Executive Director, Tracy Cannata, hailed this first joint venture stating that “education is absolutely key to the future viability and success of the security industry. This joint initiative will contribute to the professionalism of our members across North America. We welcome partners, such as CSAA, who make education a priority. “
We anticipate that the program will become available to CANASA members (who receive a substantial discount) and other Canadian security companies by December 15.
