Information Needed About Cellular-Based Customer Equipment (AMPS)
As we have informed our members previously, effective February 18, 2008, cellular carriers will no longer be required to provide analog (AMPS) service. This could have an adverse impact on the thousands of alarm customers that have installed this type of communications at their customer's premises. Note that this AMPS transition DOES NOT affect non-cellular (private radio) used for alarm monitoring purposes.
For this reason, the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC) would like to gather information as to the impact of this decision on the alarm industry. This information will be used to present to the FCC as we request that the deadline be extended.
For this reason, please complete and send to our offices by January 20, 2006 the survey available at www.csaaintl.org/2005AICCAMPSTransitionSurvey.doc.
