CSAA/IMUA/UL Announce New Insurance Seminars

As previously reported, the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), the Inland Marine Underwriters Association (IMUA), and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) have teamed up to present a series of seminars for home office and field underwriters and loss prevention specialists.

Under the aegis of the CSAA Insurance Industry Liaison Committee, chaired by Stan Oppenheim, the IMUA is scheduling a number of regional seminars where CSAA and UL are presenting a program that will educate these underwriters and loss prevention specialists on the effectiveness and necessity for their companies to understand and require that life safety systems in the burglar and fire alarm field use UL Listed components, installation and monitoring.

In March, the first of these meetings was held in Minneapolis /St. Paul. The next seminar is scheduled for June 15, 2005 in NYC followed by a June 23rd, 2005 seminar in Chicago and another one possibly in Atlanta in the late summer.

According to CSAA Executive VP Steve Doyle, ”this is a perfect example of an Association doing for its members and the UL community what individual companies cannot do alone. This committee has reached out and, with the significant help of the IMUA, is reaching the prime people and companies that we need to reach to promote UL central station service”.

CSAA False Alarm Online Training Reaching Broad Audience
Central Station Help Needed

Last month, CSAA unveiled the new CSAA False Alarm Online Training to a broad spectrum of industry and AHJ organizations.  Since that time, we have been receiving reports of companies who have mandated that all employees take the course as a matter of policy.  At the same time, we have received additional reports of AHJ jurisdictions adopting the use of the course.

The course was designed to be used by individuals, and therefore, the reporting mechanisms only report the number of individuals who take the course. If your central station is adopting the use of the course for all employees, or if you know of a local AHJ jurisdiction that has adopted its use, it would be greatly appreciated if you would let us know by contacting Celia Besore, CSAA Director of Marketing & Communications at communications@csaaul.org

Rome, Italy Announced As Site Of 2006 Annual Meeting

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is pleased to announce that after much negotiation, it has signed a contract with the Rome Cavalieri Hilton for its 2006 Annual Meeting – November 3-8, 2006.

The Hilton Cavalieri is situated on 15 acres of private Mediterranean gardens atop Monte Mario overlooking the historic center of Rome and the Alban Hills. The 376 guest rooms are luxurious and spacious and come complete with private balcony and a separate seating area. Less than 2 miles from the Vatican and 3 miles from the historic city center, the hotel combines all the advantages of a resort hotel with the sites and restaurants of the historic city just minutes away.

For centuries, Rome has been called the Eternal City, a title earned through its importance as one of the great capitals of the Roman Empire and as the world center of the Roman Catholic church. Since 1871, it has been the capital of united Italy. With a history that goes back about three thousand years, visitors from around the world travel to Rome to see monuments such as the Arch of Constantine, the Coliseum, and the Pantheon; world-class museums such as the Barberini Palace and the Villa Borghese; and historic churches such at the Santa Maria Maggiore, the Santa Maria della Vittoria and the Vatican City itself with its Sistine Chapel.

Rome in 2006 is sure to be one of CSAA’s most exciting annual meetings. Be sure to mark your calendars now and watch your mail and the CSAA web site for more details.
