Schaumburg, IL Adopts CSAA False Alarm Online Training

On Tuesday, April 26, 2005, the Schaumburg, Illinois Village Board approved unanimously the CSAA False Alarm Online Training for use as the village's official remedial training course for false alarm offenders. The CSAA online class will replace a two-hour seminar that was previously in use by the village. Any alarm user with more than five false alarms will be required to take the CSAA online course. Municipalities in several other states are also considering adopting the program.

“The Village of Schaumburg has had an ordinance under which subscribers with an excessive number of false alarms must attend a class on false alarm prevention taught by our crime prevention officers,” said Officer John Nebl. “Once we found out about the CSAA program and reviewed it, we were impressed by its quality and decided that it was better than any program that we could offer in-house,” added Nebl.

According to CSAA's Executive Vice President Steve Doyle, "we have received calls from all over the country from all sorts of AHJs, from the state level to the local municipality, enquiring about adopting the CSAA False Alarm Online Training course. We are exceptionally pleased at the reception this program, so vital to our industry, is receiving.”

“Our thanks to Ed Bonifas of Alarm Detection Systems, Aurora, Ill., for his initiative with the Village of Schaumburg," added Doyle.

CSAA released the False Alarm Online course in February 2005. The course educates users about the dangers of false alarms and provides them with solutions to prevent them. The course is also of great value to anyone interested in the correct use of alarm systems.
