Dickens Receives Stanley C. Lott Award

Ben Dickens

Ben Dickens

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is pleased to announce that Benjamin (Ben) H. Dickens, Jr., Esq., received the 2007 Stanley C. Lott Award, CSAA's most prestigious recognition, on Friday, October 19, during the 2007 CSAA Annual Meeting.

Mr. Dickens has been involved with CSAA for 20 years. His contributions have been many—some visible, some behind the scenes. His dedication to the Association has been evident in the quality of his work and also in his commitment to always being available. Not only have his actions helped CSAA through out his 20 years of involvement, but have also impacted greatly the industry.

"I know the history of the Stan Lott award, the past recipients of the award and the many people in CSAA who have contributed to the Association and the industry and who have not yet been so honored," said Ben Dickens. "I am truly humbled that I am the current recipient and thank Immediate Past President John Murphy and the Board of Directors for honoring me. There is no recognition, award or honor in my 30 year legal career that is as important to me as the Stan Lott award."

“Nobody is more deserving of this award than Ben Dickens," said Steve Doyle, Executive Vice President of CSAA. "He has served this industry through his counsel on regulatory and Congressional issues for many years, as well as serving as CSAA’s General Counsel. In addition, Ben has guided us through some turbulent legal waters during tough times and we have always come out on top. Congratulations, Ben."

Ben, a partner in the Washington, DC-based telecommunications firm of Blooston, Mordkofsky, Dickens, Duffy & Prendergast, LLP, became CSAA’s Legal Counsel in 1987, and a member of the CSAA Board of Directors. This is his 20th year anniversary with CSAA.

In addition, Ben has served the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC) since 1987, serving as the liaison to the FCC and other regulatory agencies and where he successfully guided our industry through the 1996 Telecommunications Act.

Ben's background includes six years of experience before the Florida Public Service Commission, between 1978 and 1984, where he litigated state regulatory proceedings on telecommunications. He also represented a national association of state regulatory officials, at the federal level, during this period, in the proceeding involving the break-up of the Bell system, and other federal matters.

The Lott Award recognizes those individuals whose contributions to CSAA and the industry are exceptional, and is CSAA's highest recognition of leadership and support. Ben now joins a group of very special people, the other recipients of the Stanley Lott Award: Robert Bitton (1991), Patricia and Thomas F. Smith (1993), Robert A. Bonifas (1995), Steve Roth (1996), Robert L. Ohm (1997), Tom Lewin (1998), Isaac Papier (1999), Stanley Martin (2001), William (Bill) Moody (2002), Ralph W. Sevinor (2003), John Mabry (2004), Louis T. Fiore (2005), and Ben Cornett (2006).
