John A. Murphy Receives CSAA's Highest Accolade

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is pleased to announce that
John A. Murphy
, president of Vector Security received the 2008 Stanley C. Lott Award, CSAA's most prestigious recognition, on Saturday, October 25, during the
2008 CSAA Annual Meeting.

Mr. Murphy has been involved with CSAA for almost 20 years. His contributions to the Association and the industry have not only included the gift of his talent, time and financial support, but also the sharing of his employees expertise in innumerable projects--from education to AHJ relations. His clear vision of the future and his brilliant advice will guide CSAA for many years to come.

Mr. Murphy has been president of Vector Security since 1991. He is a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in finance and corporate management in various segments of the service industry. His extensive management experience includes structuring and integrating more than 200 acquisitions, involving more than $1 billion of transaction value.

Before joining Vector Security, Murphy was president of Chestnut Capital Corporation, a privately held investment company in Philadelphia, and earlier was the senior vice president of IU International Corporation.

Mr. Murphy is the immediate past president of the Central Station Alarm Association and serves on the CSAA Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. He is also an active member of the Alarm Industry Communications Committee (AICC) and is involved with the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) and its coalition, the Alarm Industry Research & Educational Foundation (AIREF).

The Lott Award recognizes those individuals whose contributions to CSAA and the industry are exceptional, and is CSAA's highest recognition of leadership and support. John now joins a group of very special people, the other recipients of the Stanley Lott Award: Robert Bitton (1991), Patricia and Thomas F. Smith (1993), Robert A. Bonifas (1995), Steve Roth (1996), Robert L. Ohm (1997), Tom Lewin (1998), Isaac Papier (1999), Stanley Martin (2001), William (Bill) Moody (2002), Ralph W. CSAA By-law Change Approved by Members

At the General Membership Meeting on Monday, October 27, the CSAA membership voted unanimously to change the Association's bylaws and add a Board of Director seat in representation of the CSAA Proprietary Council.

The purpose of the Proprietary Central Station Council is to address issues unique to proprietary central stations and to participate in discussions and on issues of standards and codes where it affects their unique concerns. In addition, the PCSC has an interest in furthering federal activities in the area of licensing and reciprocity, and working with the central station industry to resolve the false alarm problem. The CSAA Proprietary Council was formed in late 2002 and held its first meeting in January 2003.
