CSAA Opens Membership Doors to ETL-certified Central Stations

On June 14, upon review of Intertek Testing Services, Inc. - ETL's application, the CSAA Board of Directors approved Intertek's as a CSAA-recognized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).

Pursuant to the CSAA Bylaws change approved by the CSAA Membership at the 2009 CSAA Annual Meeting, which opened CSAA membership to any alarm company certified by any CSAA-recognized NRTL, Intertek's approval as a CSAA-recognized NRTL now allows central station alarm companies with only the ETL listing to apply for CSAA membership.

Attend the Next CSAA Signature Series Webinar on UL2050
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT

As our members know, having a UL Listing can give your company access to new markets. One of the most active areas today is the national industrial security system program. Often referred to as a UL2050 Listing, this category is for contractors providing alarm services to U. S. government contractors or in some cases U. S. government facilities.

The category is designed to adapt to a wide range of locations by offering a variety of monitoring and investigation configurations. Due to this flexibility, both small and large based alarm contractors may compete within the category. In addition there are opportunities for contract central stations that do not provide services to alarm installations.

Attendees of this webinar will receive details about the categories of service within this program, the U. S. government manuals that require its use, and how one may prepare to become UL2050 Listed.

The webinar speaker is  Pete Tallman of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., the principal engineer for the development of the UL Standard for National Industrial Security Systems, UL2050.

CSAA 60th Anniversary Celebration at ESX

CSAA members launched the Association's 60th Anniversary year-long celebration Tuesday, June 15 at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The opening festivities took place during the Alarm Industry Celebration, where jointly with the Electronic Security Association (ESA), CSAA showcased an entertaining and informative video, highlighting some of the many accomplishments achieved by CSAA in the last 60 years. The video was made possible by Ron Rothman and the creative staff of Honeywell Security (see http://www.csaaul.org/signals/csaa_signals_vol_16_no_10.htm#esx).

The festivities continued the next day during the ESX exhibit, where CSAA members used the CSAA 60th anniversary logo on their hand-outs and giveaways. Attendees who visited all the participating booths got their passport stamped and participated in a drawing for a Barnes & Noble Nook e-reader. Congratulations to Devin Yova from Security Innovations who won the Nook!
